To celebrate the launch of issue #48 of Monster Children, we threw one hell of a hoedown at Harvest House in Denton, Texas.
Our guest editor, Jason Lee, recently relocated to the small Texan town, and much of the issue features local musicians, craftsmen and eateries. So, we dusted off our boots, fastened our bolos, and straddled the fastest American Airlines Boing 737 this side of the Mississippi and headed straight to the lone star state. The rapturous crowd were treated to Lone Star beers and Basil Hayden’s Whiskey as they two-stepped their way into heaven thanks to the sweet sounds of Doug Burr, Midlake, and the A.M Ramblers. Mr. Lee himself even got up and indulged in a cheeky strum or two. Photographer Marcus Junius Lawscaptured the whole thing, so even though you totally missed the best party ever, you can look through our album and feel a little closer to the action. Don your finest Stetson, flick through the gallery, and look out for the snap of local blind artist Jon Bramblitt prepping to sketch a portrait of Jason by feeling the profile of his face. Wild. Thanks Texas!
